Purpose: To make living in Yazoo City safer by enforcing the building and ordinance codes adopted by the Mayor and Board of Aldermen.
Mission: To build a better community through inspections, code enforcement, and zoning requirements.
The Code Enforcement Division is responsible for enforcing the zoning ordinance. Zoning regulations and building permits must be issued on all new construction and all remodeling over a certain dollar amount in both zoning districts, residential and commercial. In order to provide an accurate assessment of the property in question and receive a permit, a land owner or contractor must bring in a building plan, the property location, and detailed information on what is to be done on the property to be reviewed by the Code Enforcement Officer.
